Why you really should attend the conference in June:

We’re all working way too hard right now. We’re overworked and over-stressed, and we need a weekend with our friends! The Conference Planning Committee promises that you will leave this conference feeling refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to take on the next challenge. You owe it to yourself, your family, and your clients to take these three days with your friends and colleagues!

Here are a few reasons to make sure you are in Denver June 3-5:

1.      Cocktails with friends! Like in the “Before Times!”
2.      Helping each other solve some of the challenges that have sprung up for us all this year… whether it means finding people you can hire to help you manage the deluge, or finding people to hire YOU so you can help them manage the deluge.
3.      Meeting new people! And attending fun networking events that take the awkwardness out of meeting new people…
4.      Hearing from lawyers, & consultants who have been practicing live, remotely, or in a hybrid model… and learning what is likely to stick with us.
5.      Time to remember and raise a glass to those we have lost in the past couple of years.

Exciting add-ons to this year’s conference

    1.      Trial Consulting 101. If you’re new to ASTC, or if you are bringing a new associate, TC101 is an essential session. You’ll learn the most important things to do (and NOT to do) to build a strong, successful career in this field. You’ll also meet other new members who will become your friends, sounding boards, and colleagues for the rest of your career!

    2.      Relax & Rejuvinate! Sunday morning, we’ll have an add-on event: A mini retreat from R&R Retreats, who will incorporate yoga, massage, nutrition (vitamin-packed smoothies), and business visioning sessions to help us leave relaxed and inspired, with tools to put into effect all the great stuff we’ve learned at the conference! Limited to 10 participants, so sign up now if you want to join us!

Fun things for your family to do in Denver:

Bring your family to Denver! One of the fastest-growing cities in the country for a really good reason: It is absolutely packed with exciting, fun and unique things to do, and much of it is walkable. These are just a few ideas within a 10-minute walk of our hotel:

      1.      16th Street Mall & Union Station: The hotel is situated right on the 16th Street walking mall in the heart of downtown Denver. The mile-long, pedestrian mall is packed with shopping, restaurants and attractions, from bowling to comedy. There’s a free shuttle that runs the length of the mall, or you can take a leisurely stroll and just enjoy “the vibe.” We’ll be at the east end of the mall. At the west end of the mall you’ll find the newly renovated 100-year-old Union Station, which is totally worth a visit! You can also hop on a train here to take you to the outer boroughs of the Denver area.
      2.      Museums! The museums within walking distance of the hotel include the Denver Art Museum, The Molly Brown House Museum, The Denver Children’s Museum, The Black American West Museum & Heritage Center, The American Museum of Western Art,the Clyfford Still Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA), The Denver Selfie Museum (really!), and more.
      3.      Meow Wolf: This immersive art experience took the Southwest by storm when it opened in Santa Fe, and now has permanent exhibits in Denver and Las Vegas, as well. The Denver show, Convergence Station, is “unforgettable, transformational, and not to be missed. Discover immersive psychedelic, mind-bending art and an underlying rich narrative as you take a journey of discovery into a surreal, science-fictional epic.”
      4.      Rockies Game: The Rockies are playing the Atlanta Braves every night that weekend, plus an afternoon game on Sunday, June 5.
      5.      Denver Center for the Performing Arts: One of the most celebrated regional theater centers in the country (and winner of the Tony Award for Best Regional Theater), the DCPA never disappoints. And it’s only a 10-minute walk from the hotel! During your visit, the Broadway hit musical Dear Evan Hansen will be on tour in Denver, closing June 5. An inspiring modern adaptation of the classic Man of La Mancha, Quixote Nuevo is at the Wolf Theater.
      6.      Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace Hotel: This iconic hotel is said to be haunted by the oh-so-gregarious ghost of Molly Brown. But even without a visit from Molly, the Brown’s afternoon tea is an event not to be missed.
      7.      Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park: This amusement park has it all: roller coasters, junk food, and a water park! And it’s located right in the heart of downtown Denver. Note from Lisa: I hate amusement parks, and even I love Elitch Gardens. Plus, the weather will be perfect for it!
      8.      REI Flagship Store & Whitewater Park: Okay, I know… it’s just shopping. But truly, this store is worth a visit, if you like perusing all things outdoor! And it sits right on the banks of the Platte River, where you can see (or join) kayakers navigating the whitewater park.
      9.      Denver Downtown Aquarium: Sprawling complex with a state-of-the-art aquarium housing 500+ species, plus a restaurant & lounge.

        Extend your visit!

If you can bring your family and/or extend your visit, here are a few ideas you shouldn’t miss:

        1.      Golden, Colorado! Note from Lisa: You should definitely see the historic, absolutely adorable, and activity-packed town I live in. It’s only a 20-minute drive, or a quick train ride, from our hotel. Known for the Coors Brewery, it now boasts quite a few of the top craft breweries as well. There’s a creek for kayaking, tubing, or swimming, countless amazing restaurants and shops, and a truly wonderful small professional theater (Miners Alley Playhouse is showing a regional premiere of the play Blue Ridge, which closes on June 5). If you are interested in a day trip or overnight, contact me, and I’ll get you some discounts!
        2.      Summer at the Ski Resorts. All of the major resorts in the mountains (within an hour or two of downtown Denver) offer fun events in the summer. Some of the higher mountains will probably even still be offering skiing! Lisa can probably even get you a discounted hotel/condo stay! If you want more details, contact Lisa directly: decaro@courtroomperformance.com.
        3.      Camping! The downtown REI flagship store offers rentals on all the equipment you would need for a night or two out in the wilds.
          4.      Way too much to mention. There are GREAT ideas here: https://www.colorado.com/things-to-do
